baysarecoveredbyanEMI-protectivepanel.
Attention:AnunoccupieddrivebaywithoutanyotherprotectionmightimpacttheEMIintegrityandcooling
oftheserver,whichmightresultinoverheatingorcomponentdamage.TomaintaintheEMIintegrityand
coolingoftheserver,installanewnon-hot-swapharddiskdriveassoonasyouremovethefailingone.
Installinganon-hot-swapharddiskdrive

Thistopicprovidesinstructionsonhowtoinstallanon-hot-swapharddiskdrive.
Beforeyoubegin,reviewthefollowingharddiskdriveinstallationrules:
•Followtheorderoftheharddiskdrivebayswheninstallingaharddiskdrive.See“Servercomponents”
onpage28tolocatetheharddiskdrivebaysinyourserver.
•ForRAIDconfiguration,theharddiskdrivesmustbethesametypewiththesamecapacityiftheyare
withinasingleRAIDarray.Formoreinformation,see“ConfiguringRAID”onpage72
.
•Forharddiskdriveswithdifferentcapacities,installtheharddiskdrivebyfollowingtheorderofthehard
diskdrivebaysaswellastheorderfromthelowestcapacitytothehighestcapacity.
Beforeyoubegin,printalltherelatedinstructionsorensurethatyoucanviewthePDFversiononanother
computerforreference.

Toinstallanon-hot-swapharddiskdrive,dothefollowing:
1.Removeallmediafromthedrivesandturnoffallattacheddevicesandtheserver.Then,disconnectall
powercordsfromelectricaloutletsanddisconnectallcablesthatareconnectedtotheserver.
