Installingorremovingtheintelligentdiagnosticsmodule
Thistopicprovidesinstructionsonhowtoinstallorremovetheintelligentdiagnosticsmodule(hereinafter
referredtoastheIDM).
TheIDM,whichisonlyavailableinsomemodels,providesdiagnosticLEDsthroughtheIDMpaneltohelp
youeasilyidentifyaproblem.ThediagnosticLEDsontheIDMpanelalsovarydependingontheinstalled

Installingtheintelligentdiagnosticsmodule
Attention:Donotopenyourserverorattemptanyrepairbeforereadingandunderstanding“Safetyinformation”
onpageiii
and“Guidelines”onpage83.
ThistopicprovidesinstructionsonhowtoinstalltheIDM.
Beforeyoubegin,printalltherelatedinstructionsorensurethatyoucanviewthePDFversiononanother
computerforreference.
Note:Dependingonthemodel,yourservermightlookslightlydifferentfromtheillustrationsinthistopic.
ToinstalltheIDM,dothefollowing:
1.Removeallmediafromthedrivesandturnoffallattacheddevicesandtheserver.Then,disconnectall
powercordsfromelectricaloutletsanddisconnectallcablesthatareconnectedtotheserver.
2.Removetheservercover.See“Removingtheservercover”onpage85.
3.Removethefrontbezel.See“Removingandreinstallingthefrontbezel”onpage87.
4.Touchthestatic-protectivepackagethatcontainstheIDMtoanyunpaintedsurfaceontheoutsideof
theserver.Then,taketheIDMoutofthepackage.
5.ConnectthesignalcabletotherearoftheIDM.
