HardwarePasswordManagerUserprivilegesareentered,theBIOSwillpromptforthePAP/SVP .

•Entercorporatecredentialsby:

1.PressEsckeytoopenLoginMenuwindow.

2.SelectIntranetaccountlogintoopentheInternetAccountLoginwindow.

3.EntertheusernameandpasswordattheInternetAccountLoginwindow.

•AttheUserLoginwindow,pressEsctoopentheUserLoginwindowandselectManuallyEnter

Passwords.Atthemanuallogin,enterthePAP/SVP .YoucanobtainthisinformationfromtheHardware

PasswordManagerAdminConsole.

Note:Fordesktopsystems,youcanskiptheCMOSerrorbypressingF2andstartingthesystem.Thenext

startwillgiveyouthesameerroruntilyouentertheBIOSsetupandloadthedefaultsettingsbypressingF9.

Scenario3-Replacethengerprintdevice

Userscanenrolltheirngerprintsforsinglesign-oncapabilityusingHardwarePasswordManager.Whena

ngerprintisenrolledforpre-startaccess,hardwarepasswordsareassociatedwiththeswipedngerprint

andarestoredwithinthengerprintdevice.Whentheuserswipesanenrolledngerprintattheprompt,

theBIOSwillreleasetheactualhardwarepasswordsfromthehardwareaccount.TheBIOSdisplaysthe

ngerprintswipepromptrstwhenstartingthesystem.ToopentheUserLoginwindow,theusermustpress

Esc.Ifthengerprintdeviceisremoved,thengerprintswipepromptwillnolongerbedisplayed,andthe

UserLoginwindowisdisplayedrst.

Whenadefectivengerprintdeviceisreplaced,theregisteredngerprintsandassociatedhardware

passwordsgoaway.HardwarePasswordManagerisnotaffectedexceptthattheusercannolonger

usingtheirngerprint.ThengerprintswipepromptwillnotbedisplayedandtheUserLoginwindow

isdisplayedrst.

Toregainngerprintaccess,theusermustregistertheirngerprintforWindowsandpre-startcredentials

usingtheFingerprintSetupUtility.Ifangerprintdeviceisreplacedwithanotherngerprintdevicethat

alreadyhasregisteredngerprintsandpasswords,theBIOSwilloverwritethosepasswordsaslongasthe

userprovidescorrectpasswordsusingeithermanual,UserLoginorHardwarePasswordManagerLogin.If

hardwareaccountcredentialswithoutHardwarePasswordManagerAdministratorprivilegesareprovided,

onlythePowerOnPasswordandHardDrivePasswordsareupdatedinthengerprintdevice(PAP/SVP

isnotaddedtothengerprintdeviceuntilauserlogsinwithHardwarePasswordManagerAdministrator

credentialsormanuallyentersthecorrectPAP/SVP .)

Scenario4-Hardwarepasswordsalreadyset

Whenhardwarepasswordsarealreadysetpriortoregistering,theusercannotregisterinHardware

PasswordManager.Whenstartingtheregistrationprocess,theClientPortalwillinformtheuserthatthey

mustmanuallyclearhardwarepasswordsbeforeregistering.Afterthehardwarepasswordsareclearedby

theuser,registrationwillproceednormally.

Scenario5-Setupundertheoperatingsystem(remoteBIOSsettings)

ThisscenariocanoccurwhenyoureceivenewmachinesandwanttorolloutdefaultBIOSsettings,suchas

disableserialportorsetadminpassword.

WhenamachineisregisteredinHardwarePasswordManager,hardwarepasswordscannotbechangedby

SetupundertheOS(sincetheyaremanagedbytheHPMserver)unlessthecurrentpasswordisprovided

whichyoucanobtainusingtheThinkManagementConsole.IfauserdisablesHardwarePasswordManager

eithermanuallythroughtheBIOSsetuporbySetupundertheOSonamachinethatisregisteredin
