“Gettinginformation,help,andservice”onpage63foradditionaltroubleshootingresources.
Troubleshootingprocedure
Usethefollowinginformationasageneralprocedurefordiagnosingandtroubleshootingproblemsyou
experiencewithyourstoragearray:
1.Verifythatthepowercordsandthecablesforallattacheddevicesareconnectedcorrectlyandsecurely.
2.Verifythatthestoragearrayisconnectedtoproperlygrounded,functioningelectricaloutlets.
3.ViewthestatusanddiagnosticLEDstoidentifythedevicestatusanddiagnoseproblems.
4.Verifythatbothfanassembliesareworkingcorrectly.Replacethefailingfanassemblytoavoid
overheatingproblems.
5.Ifthestoragearrayisnotworkingafteryouhaveinstalledanewoptionaldeviceorreplacedapieceof
hardware,removeorreinstallthedevicetoseeiftheproblemcouldbesolved.
6.Ifnoneoftheseactionssolvetheproblem,seektechnicalassistance.SeeChapter8“Getting
information,help,andservice”onpage63

Usingadiagnosticprogram
TheMegaRAIDStorageManagerprogramisavailableforyoutodiagnoseproblems.
TouseMegaRAIDStorageManager,dothefollowing:
1.Gotohttp://www.lenovo.com/driversandfollowtheinstructionsontheWebpagetolocatetheprogram.
2.DownloadandruntheEXEfile.
3.Followtheinstructionsonthescreentousetheprogram.
Fordetailedinformationaboutusingtheprogram,refertotheuserguideoftheprogram,whichisavailable
fordownloadat:

Usingthecommandlineinterface
Thecommandlineinterface(CLI)enablesyoutodiagnoseproblemsforyourstoragearray.Beforeyoustart,
prepareacomputerthatmeetsthefollowingrequirements:
•HasanavailableDB9serialconnector.
•Hasaserial-connectorconfigurationprograminstalled,suchastheSecureCRTprogram.
TodiagnoseproblemsofyourstoragearrayusingtheCLI,dothefollowing:
1.ConnectoneendoftheDB9-to-RJ11debugcable(providedinyourstoragearraypackage)tothe
debugconnectorontherearI/Omoduleofthestoragearray.Then,connecttheotherendofthedebug
cabletotheDB9serialconnectoronthecomputer.
2.Starttheserial-connectorconfigurationprogram.
