TosupportloggingonwitheithertheLenovoFingerprintKeyboardorthebuilt-inThinkPadngerprintsensor
withtheWindowsXPWelcomeScreen,thelogoninterfacesforboththeLenovoFingerprintSoftwareand
theThinkVantageFingerprintSoftwaremustbeenabled.
WhenloggingonwiththeWindowsXPWelcomeScreenenabledandbothngerprintlogoninterfaces
areenabled,userscanswipetheirngersoneitherthengerprintkeyboardortheintegratedngerprint
devicetologon.
Note:TheBIOS“ReaderPriority”settingdoesnotapplyinthissituation.Eitherdevicemaybeusedfor
logonifbothdevicesareavailable.
TheWindowsXPWelcomeScreencanbeenabledvia“UserAccounts”intheWindowsXPControlPanel.
ThengerprintlogoninterfaceforLenovoFingerprintSoftware(fortheintegratedngerprintsensor)andthe
ThinkVantageFingerprintSoftware(forthengerprintkeyboard)canbeenabledviathe“Settings”option
intherespectivengerprintsoftwareapplication.
WindowsXP-Classiclogonprompt
Important:ThengerprintlogoninterfacesfortheLenovoFingerprintSoftwareandtheThinkVantage
FingerprintSoftwaremustnotbeenabledatthesametimeiftheWindowsXPclassiclogonprompt(GINA
logoninterface)isenabled.Unexpectedresultsmayoccurifbothlogoninterfacesareenabledandthe
WindowsXPWelcomeScreenisnotused.
IftheWindowsXPclassiclogonpromptisrequired(forexample,tosupportloggingontoadomain),and
ngerprintlogonwitheithersensorisselected,thentheClientSecuritySolutionlogoninterfacemustbe
enabled.WiththeClientSecuritySolutionlogoninterfaceenabled,logontoWindowsispossiblewitheither
thengerprintkeyboardortheintegratedngerprintdevice.
Note:ThisoptionisonlyavailableinClientSecuritySolution8.21orlater.
TheClientSecuritySolutionlogoninterfacecanbeenabledbytheClientSecuritySolutionapplicationinthe
StartMenu.TheoptionforconguringtheClientSecuritySolutionlogoninterfacecanbefoundbyselecting
“Managesecuritypolicies”fromtheClientSecuritySolutionapplication“Advanced”menu.
EnsurethatthelogoninterfacesfortheLenovoFingerprintSoftwareandThinkVantageFingerprintsoftware
aredisabledbythe“Settings”optionintherespectivengerprintsoftwareapplication.
WindowsVista
TosupportloggingonwitheithertheLenovoFingerprintKeyboardorthebuilt-inThinkPadngerprintsensor
onWindowsVista,thelogoninterfacesforboththeLenovoFingerprintSoftwareandtheThinkVantage
FingerprintSoftwaremustbeenabled.
WhenbothngerprintlogoninterfacesareenabledunderWindowsVista,userscanswipetheirngeron
eitherthengerprintkeyboardortheintegratedngerprintdevicetologon.
