Thissectionprovidesinstructionsonhowtoreplaceaharddiskdrive.
Important
Whenyoureceiveanewharddiskdrive,youalsoreceiveasetofProductRecoverydiscs.Thesetof
ProductRecoverydiscswillenableyoutorestorethecontentsoftheharddiskdrivetothesamestate
aswhenyourcomputerwasoriginallyshippedfromthefactory.Formoreinformationonrecovering
factory-installedsoftware,referto“Recoveringsoftware”inyourThinkStationUserGuide.
Attention:YourcomputersupportsbothSASharddiskdrivesandSATAharddiskdrives.However,besure
thatyoudonotinstallboththeSASandSATAharddiskdrivesintothesamecomputer.
Toreplaceaharddiskdrive,dothefollowing:
1.Removethecomputercover.See“Removingthecover”onpage78.
2.Locatetheharddiskdrive.See“Locations”onpage79.
3.Disconnectthesignalandpowercablesfromtheharddiskdrive.
4.Pullthebrackethandleouttoremovetheharddiskdrivefromthechassis.
